Advisory Board
Black History Conversations has developed through the knowledge, enthusiasm and generosity of people from many different backgrounds and countries.
Our Advisory Board brings together academics, community historians, researchers, writers, cultural practitioners and heritage specialists who help us identify subjects, speakers, resources and new directions for the programme.
The original conversations grew from discussions involving Liz Millman and Simon Ferrigno from Learning Links International, David Alston who has reasearched Scottish links and Yasus Afari, our inspiration from Jamaica, as well as the many other contributors subsequently helped shape the programme.
As BHC enters its next phase, we want the Advisory Board to become increasingly international and intergenerational, linking community knowledge with academic research and lived experience.
Members will advise on future conversations, suggest speakers and resources, contribute to discussions and help us develop partnerships.
As the first seasons of Black History Conversations unfolded, some of presenters and participants have become advisors, taking an active role in developing themes:
Prof Sati Fwatshak
Dr Jim Thakoordin
Prof Sir Geoff Palmer
Dr Morgan Dalphinis
Gwyneth Kensler
Dr Richard Anderson - Aberdeen University
Marcia Dunkley - Black Heritage Walks
Junanita Cox
Audrey Dewjee
Vivian Crawford
Dr Sheryllynne Haggerty - Liverpool University
Prof Robert Buroughs - Leeds Beckett
Dr Nick Radburn - Lancaster Uni.
Dr Michael O'Connor
We welcome others to join the Advisory Panel to contribute to the development of the programme and to facilitate the online conversations, as well as leading discussions in response to questions posed.
We will also share your contact details and a short bio.
